Chelsea passed up chance to sign International No.18 attacking midfielder

Lyon owner Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed that EPL side Chelsea had “no interest” in landing French winger Nabil Fekir in the summer transfer window, according to a report on getting French Football News.

Fekir was heavily connected with a move to the English top flight and looked set to join Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, only for the move to break down.
The Ligue 1 giants agreed on a £53 million deal with the Reds for Fekir but ultimately, the move failed and this alerted a host of other clubs.

However, Aulas states that when he offered Nabil Fekir to the west London outfit, they showed no interest in securing the signature of the Frenchman.

Aulas said: “In the beginning, when we thought about our summer transfer window and how to organize the future squad, we thought that he was practically gone. That’s why we have been able to adapt things.”

“We spoke with Chelsea representatives, and they had no interest at all in him. From then on, we realized we could change our plans (as Nabil would stay).”

France international had a summer to remember as he and his team won the World Cup in Russia.

It was widely reported that with Eden Hazard connected with a transfer away from Stamford Bridge, Fekir could be the perfect replacement but according to Jean-Michel, there was simply no interest from Chelsea.
